Killing Time - Cover Reveal!

I am so excited to share with you the cover for Killing Time! Now available on preorder.

Killing Time Publishes on September 27, 2021

Time Travel Through the Eye of a Hurricane

The Strongest Hurricane in Decades Takes Aim at Florida.

Will Ronnie Escape its Wrath or be Lost in Time Forever?

Ronnie Andrews is lucky to be alive after a time travel glitch nearly took her life during Hurricane Frances. When Hurricane Ivan, one of the strongest storms in decades, sets its sights on Florida, Ronnie jumps at the chance to join Mike, her mysterious new boss, on a business trip to Puerto Rico,

Sparks fly, but when a newspaper article surfaces with horrific pictures of a woman who may have died at Mike's hands, Ronnie regrets the decision. Before she can confront Mike about what she knows, Hurricane Jeanne forms off the coast, trapping them on the island. Her doctors warned that another time-travel-induced illness may kill her. Mike may be her only salvation.

The storm strikes and Ronnie time travels to Texas in 1872 where she is kidnapped by Comanches. A rescue party saves her life led by Jesse and Frank James, hiding under assumed names.

Will Ronnie find a way to make the time-traveling episodes stop before the dangers of the past, and the damage from the journey destroy her?

Early readers are already loving the book. Here is what they are saying!

"The first 10 chapters were so exciting! I've enjoyed this series so much and couldn't believe I was allowed to read this large excerpt. You did a great job with filling out the characters' personalities. [Boo, hiss, Jeffrey!] The storyline is so original yet the way you've written it makes the events sound completely believable. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of the book! Thank you so much for a great read." Kathy H. ARC Reader

"Absolutely, I LOVED the first two books. Can't believe a boyfriend would do this to his girlfriend so can't wait to see how that all plays out. Jeffrey should get sent back in time, see how he likes it. Ha!
Can't wait!" Kathryn R. ARC Reader.

Blondie in the Water -- True Tales of a Water-Loving Mom

Blondie in the Water eBook #BlondieH20

Get your free copy here!

At long last I am able to offer a free eBook for everyone who signs up for my newsletter! Announcing Blondie in the Water -- True Tales from a Water-Loving Mom.

To get your free copy simply subscribe to my newsletter here!

This book is a humorous collection of my fondest watery adventures to help me cope with moving from the oceanfront to Dirtville USA. It features family adventures to some of America's most prestigious national parks (including Yellowstone and Yosemite) while balancing my son's dislike of the outdoors with my intense need for being neck deep in any warm body of water.

At the end of this blog I'll share one of the short stories so you can get a flavor of the rest of the book. Inside the book I've also included the first five chapters of Stealing Time, the first book in the series as well as a free bonus.

You can download the first five chapters of both books, Stealing Time and Shattering Time as well as another free gift for signing up.

Blondie in Bermuda – Ill-Begotten Fears

July 1997

It was July and Bermuda was the only place in the world I wanted to be with the sun on my shoulders and the gorgeous blue sea in front of me. I was excited by what I might find in the tranquil coves and lagoons littering the coast. The handsome and amazingly well-muscled man who just happened to be my new groom joining me on this adventure did not hurt the excitement factor either.

We rented a scooter and made our way along the narrow winding roads while attempting to avoid the overloaded trucks taking their half of the street from the center. The island was breathtaking, filled with pastel cottages in shades of pink, blue, and salmon all with impossibly white roofs. As we meandered along oleander-lined streets, pink-and-white flowers reached out to touch us as we drove by. We continued to make our way to the outskirts of the island to find an isolated beach to explore.

We parked the scooter and headed to the water with snorkel gear in hand. While standing knee-deep in the water he cheerfully informed me, “Several years ago three people were eaten by a shark at this very spot.”

I looked around at the lack of bystanders that would need to pull our shark-bitten bodies out of the water. With false innocence, he looked at me and continued the grisly lesson, pointing at the lagoon’s edge. “Over there a ten-year-old boy lost his leg.”

I looked but didn’t want to see. Seriously? These were not thoughts I wanted swimming beside me in the water. I was satisfied with the blissful ignorance we’d had at the beginning of the journey. What happened to the tranquil coves? Unhappy with my newfound knowledge about bloody and dismembered people, I took another swig of water and tossed the bottle in the sand.

“This is the part where you stick that snorkel in your mouth and bite it,” I said while trying to scrub my brain free of the horrible images he’d just planted. He obliged by sliding into the water smiling, knowing his tease had worked. It only took me a few minutes to brush it aside since I was too enamored with the tiny squid flitting just inches below the waterline, yet always out of reach.

The breathtaking beauty of the coral reefs teaming with life eventually overcame my ill-begotten fears. The colors of the palm trees, flowers, and lush greenery of the land paled in contrast to all the fuchsias, yellows, and blues of the fish darting and diving around the pink coral rocks.
The view of my man in swim trunks and snorkel gear was mighty fine, too. Later we returned to the scooter with my soggy bikini-clad body pressed against his, ready to explore another isolated beach—this one just secluded enough.

At the end of the day we returned to our room, aptly named “A Bit o’ Heaven,” for a steamy shower and fresh duds. With a blanket and a bottle of champagne in hand we took a short walk down the rocky slope to the beach in front of the hotel. We arrived just in time to watch the sun fade into the sea, both ready for part two of our exciting interlude in Bermuda.

I’ve longed to go back and relive those amazing moments on the beach. But I’m afraid that adventure will have to wait awhile. As it would happen a few small problems have arisen since then, namely my beautiful blondie children. Right now, they’re clamoring for dinner and a chuck under their collective chins, so I must dash off. My current bit ‘o heaven includes the laughter, hugs, and everything else that comes with being their mom.

A Book A Day #Giveaway -- Shattering (Island) Time Book Tour -Stop 8 -- Florida

A Book A Day #Giveaway -- Stop 8 – Shattering (Island) Time -- Florida

Welcome to my Shattering (Island) Time book blog tour to celebrate the launch of my second book, Shattering Time. The story features Hurricane Francis as an intricate part of the plot. This book tour has meandered its way through the path of destruction left on its way to Florida where Shattering Time begins.

A Book A Day Contest
Shattering Time launches next week on June 27. I’ll be giving away a free eBook every day from now until the launch. To enter all you have to do it comment on my Facebook post here and I’ll pick a winner each day! I’ll even give away a paperback to 2 people who share the post on the day of launch.

Florida and Hurricane Frances
The excitement ramps up in Shattering Time on Sunday, August 29, 2004, at 1:00 am when the storm makes landfall. It was the size of Texas and a category 2 storm with 105 MPH winds. It made landfall near Sewall's Point, Florida.

Francis hit three weeks after Hurricane Charley, that storm is the driving force in my first novel in this series, Stealing Time. Citrus groves were a near total loss for part of the state after both storms ravished the trees causing over $2 billion in damage.

Frances dropped over 13 inches of rain in parts of Florida and the wind caused damage to the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center, adding to the damage of Hurricane Charley totaling $100 million in 2004 dollars. Walt Disney World Closed on Sunday for only the third time in its history, the second time that month because of the previous hurricane.

Time Travel in a Hurricane

During this massive storm Ronnie Andrews, my main character, is sent back in time to 1588 Roanoke Island in North Carolina. For you history buffs, that is the first colony in America, also known as the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island.

Tensions were running high
with the Natives
The Governor was sent back to England for more supplies and reinforcements, as they were running out of food and tensions with the native population were mounting. When he returned there was no trace of the colonists, other than a carving in a tree, Croatoan.

Let me bring you to the moment where Ronnie encounters the Native American population and finds herself in a sticky situation with this exclusive excerpt.

Advanced Review

I just received my first review from an Advance Reader Copy reviewer. If you’d like an advanced copy please let me know. I’d really love an honest review on Amazon. Sent an email to kjwatersauthor@gmail.com with ARC Copy in the title.

After enjoying KJ Waters earlier novels I was eager to read Shattering Time. Especially to find out how Ronnie is rescued.
I appreciated the  well written back story being incorporated, which adequately covered the past, and prepared me for the present.
I loved to hate the dreadful Jeffrey. My heart went out to Ronnie, poor girl. Her life was not her own.
Readers be warned of the occasional explicit language and sex scenes, if you are sensitive.
I give Shattering Time five stars.

Thank you,
Glennis Browne, Australian Author

I also wanted to invite you to our #SummerBookBlast where we are giving away a KINDLE FIRE fully loaded with seven great summer reads, including Shattering Time. You can enter here! Read more about these books here.

Shattering Time Blurb:
Number one best-selling thriller Stealing Time continues in this “breathtakingly original” journey where Ronnie Andrews returns from eighteenth century London shell-shocked from her first terrifying time travel encounter. Her boyfriend, Jeffrey Brennan, casts doubt on her sanity leaving Ronnie wondering if she went back in time or is having a metal breakdown.

To add to the tension, Hurricane Francis, a storm the size of Texas, is barreling towards Florida and her fears of a repeat time travel experience mount. Her best friend Steph, along with Nick and Steph’s younger brother Ian, shield Ronnie from the dangers of Francis but cannot save her from traveling back in time. Unfortunately, their meddling brings Ronnie to the brink of destruction as they are caught in the throes of the hurricane’s wrath.

Ronnie is transported to dangerous places and plagued with desperate situations, while experiencing fascinating cultures including one of America’s first mysteries -- the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island. A stunning conclusion brings Ronnie face to face with a dangerous ally who may hold the key to her past while serving as the savior of her future.

Shattering (Island) Time -- Stop 5 The Bahamas

Shattering (Island) Time Book Tour -- Stop 5 The Bahamas

Welcome to the Bahamas!

Photo courtesy of my author pal John Malik who is visiting The Bahamas now.  Visit him at http://chefjohnmalik.com/

Today I continue the Shattering (Island) Time book tour that is following the path of Hurricane Frances. The Bahamas was hit hard by this massive storm, that plays a key role in my upcoming release, Shattering Time. Frances was the first hurricane to hit the entire archipelago since 1924 and caused the near destruction of their agricultural economy.

We will begin our adventure on Pig Beach where we will swim with the pigs on this glorious day.

These friendly critters are thought to have survived from a shipwreck, possibly from pirates or even perhaps Columbus himself. On his second trip he brought animals on the journey. If I come back as an animal in my next life I'm putting dibs on these critters.

Once we've had our fill of piggy delight we'll take the boat over to one of the other cool and exciting destinations. I'll let you vote on what's next but first let me share with you two exciting #giveaways that I have going on that involve my book.

The Bahamas Adventure

Okay, back to the exciting adventure we have awaiting us. Today we have the choice of heading to the following destinations:

2. Lucayan National Park, that is named after the the Indians that originally lived on the islands fro 900 - 1500 AD. First we'll enjoy a tour of the smallish cave and learn about the wildlife within. Then a walk through the mangroves to the kayak area and enjoy a few hours of kayak adventuring until we relax on Gold Rock Beach for a swim and lounge in the sun.

3. In Florida at Discovery Cove I had the amazing adventure with my daughter to swim with dolphins. I'd love to do it again with you in Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter

4. What about an

adventure by plane to the bigger island of Nassau where I have reserved a horse drawn carriage called a surrey to get a tour of the history of Nassau and the ancient sites and forts.

San Salvador Island and Hurricane Frances

San Salvador Island was the unfortunate victim of Hurricane Frances at 5:00 pm on September 2, 2004 raging with 120 mph winds.

September 2, 2004 Hurricane Frances passes over San Salvador.

Here is a picture of one such unfortunate house after the flooding that devastated part of the island.

Hurricane Frances plays an important role in Shattering Time as the driving force of the plot. Here is the link in case you wanted to check it out!

Thankfully today there are no storms in site today. I have a lovely picnic for us. But first a little smidgen of history on the island.

It’s widely believed that San Salvador Island was the location that Christopher Columbus first made landfall in the new world. How cool is that? He chose the name that translates to Christ our Savior.

In honor of Christopher and his discovery, we shall picnic near one of the many statues on the island on Long Bay named after the long boat Columbus used to reach the island. There is even an underwater monument where the anchor landed on October 12, 1492.

In our picnic basket today I am serving cracked conch salad with lime civiche. If you want to know about this delicious local favorite click here. The cooler has a few sandwiches if you're not a conch salad kind of gal or guy.
