Killing Time - Cover Reveal!

I am so excited to share with you the cover for Killing Time! Now available on preorder.

Killing Time Publishes on September 27, 2021

Time Travel Through the Eye of a Hurricane

The Strongest Hurricane in Decades Takes Aim at Florida.

Will Ronnie Escape its Wrath or be Lost in Time Forever?

Ronnie Andrews is lucky to be alive after a time travel glitch nearly took her life during Hurricane Frances. When Hurricane Ivan, one of the strongest storms in decades, sets its sights on Florida, Ronnie jumps at the chance to join Mike, her mysterious new boss, on a business trip to Puerto Rico,

Sparks fly, but when a newspaper article surfaces with horrific pictures of a woman who may have died at Mike's hands, Ronnie regrets the decision. Before she can confront Mike about what she knows, Hurricane Jeanne forms off the coast, trapping them on the island. Her doctors warned that another time-travel-induced illness may kill her. Mike may be her only salvation.

The storm strikes and Ronnie time travels to Texas in 1872 where she is kidnapped by Comanches. A rescue party saves her life led by Jesse and Frank James, hiding under assumed names.

Will Ronnie find a way to make the time-traveling episodes stop before the dangers of the past, and the damage from the journey destroy her?

Early readers are already loving the book. Here is what they are saying!

"The first 10 chapters were so exciting! I've enjoyed this series so much and couldn't believe I was allowed to read this large excerpt. You did a great job with filling out the characters' personalities. [Boo, hiss, Jeffrey!] The storyline is so original yet the way you've written it makes the events sound completely believable. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of the book! Thank you so much for a great read." Kathy H. ARC Reader

"Absolutely, I LOVED the first two books. Can't believe a boyfriend would do this to his girlfriend so can't wait to see how that all plays out. Jeffrey should get sent back in time, see how he likes it. Ha!
Can't wait!" Kathryn R. ARC Reader.

Goodbye March Madness -- Welcome April Fool's!

Goodbye March Madness -- Hello April Fool's

Welcome to my blog. I hope in this unusual time you are able to find some good in your current situation. I've made a humorous video sharing the top ten reasons I'm not getting anything done. You can see that below.

As a quick introduction, I'm KJ Waters and an author of breathtakingly original time travel fiction, and an author consultant helping writers one book at a time.

Currently, I'm writing the third book in my time travel series, Killing Time and just started a new women's fiction series. This is an excerpt from my latest newsletter that I wanted to share with you as a teaser of what I like to share over there. If you'd like to sign up to enter my monthly contests to win gift cards and books please sign up here.

Save the World -- Wash Your Hands!

Let's make a pact. I promise to not freak out if you do too. Pinky swear you will take care of yourself by walking outside and focus on the beauty of spring, playing solitaire on your iPad (I just started this and it's actually fun!), or call your bestie and tell him/her how much s/he means to you.

You can take small moments in your day and let yourself get lost in a good book, a favorite show on TV, playing Scrabble, kicking zombie's asses, anything that keeps your mind off the scary things going on out there. Find something that just a week ago you didn't have time for, something you've been wanting to tackle for months.

I promise to be calm (ish) and enjoy the little joyful things. My family needs me at my best and a stressed me doesn't do that. Promise me that you will keep your cool.
Take charge of your health and happiness by focusing on one small thing that brings you joy. Even for just a few minutes. It will offer you a respite. Find ways to be grateful for what you have, to focus on the good things that you can control.
I hope you and your family stay safe during this unprecedented time. I will be sending you happy thoughts, healthy prayers, and lots of unconditional love. We are all in this together!
~KJ

Top Ten Reasons I'm Not Getting Anything Done

Here is the latest video I made to make the best of the current situation. Top Ten Reasons I'm Not Getting Anything Done.

Yeah, I'm a goof but I'm also well suited for these times. I'm a writer and already spent a ridiculous amount of time at home hiding in my office. But now, so is my entire family of six, and that is killing my productivity.

Great little blessings are in there as well, like seeing my college son every day when he should be away at college and having special moments where we all play games together. Even my teen-aged daughter is forced ... ah ... gets to spend time with us now.

Also, I wanted to extend my March Newsletter contest to give you a sample of what I do each month over there. Here is the scoop.

God Winks March Contest
Sometimes turmoil brings unexpected blessings in your life. This month's contest is all about those little God winks as my late sister-in-law called them.

Share your unexpected God wink by responding to this link to enter to win a $10 Amazon card. If you already entered on my newsletter you can enter for a second try at a $10 Amazon card here. I will choose winners on April 7, 2020.

My surprise blessing happened three weeks ago when my son's college shut down for the rest of the semester. He was already home on spring break from his school in New York 27 hours away. You can imagine my unending joy finding out we could keep him for the next 2 months and possibly longer depending on what happens this summer. Especially having him home where I can care for him during this crazy time.
That is exactly the type of unexpected blessing I want to celebrate. I know our lives are shuffled up right now, but tell me what cards you were dealt with some unexpected God wink.

My Books are all available for free on Kindle Unlimited. #KU

Christmas Around the World Giveaway Video and Blog Tour

Christmas Around the World Giveaway Blog Tour

Happy Holidays from my home to yours. I'm very excited to share with you something special for the holidays. I'm fascinated by the traditions we have in the United States with all the different cultures represented here. With that in mind, I hatched the idea to grab a few of my favorite author buddies from various countries to have them share what makes the holidays special to their families.

I handpicked five amazing authors from around the world to join forces with and created the Christmas Around the World Giveaway and Blog Tour.

All last week we featured one blog post a day with an accompanying video from each author sharing their Christmas traditions and gave you a peek inside their books and what one of the characters would experience in their time and place.

Today is my day to share my Christmas traditions based on my Grandmother’s love of the holiday and overabundance of gifts and family fun in a split family. Also, I will paint a picture of what life was like in England in 1752, the year featured in my book, Stealing Time, which was the year they skipped 11 days to jive with Europe’s Gregorian calendar. Check out my video to learn more.

More about my "breathtakingly original" time travel novel set in a hurricane.

Stealing Time: Book 1 - A Time Travel, Historical Fiction Adventure

A devastating hurricane. A time travel betrayal. Will Ronnie survive the witch hunt or forever be lost in time?

Stealing Time is the first book in the best-selling "Breathtakingly original" time travel series that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

As Hurricane Charley churns a path of destruction towards Orlando, Florida, Ronnie Andrews scrambles to prepare for the storm and seeks shelter at her boyfriend’s weather lab. What she finds there is more terrifying than Mother Nature's destruction.

During the peak of the hurricane, Ronnie is hurtled back in time to eighteenth-century London where she is caught in a web of superstition, deception, and lies in a life and death struggle to return to her own time.

Her best friend Steph is thrust into the middle of the hurricane where it quickly turns into a living nightmare as she is faced with losing everything.

Stealing Time is the first book in the “breathtakingly original” Stealing Time Series of time-travel wrapped in a hurricane. If you like strong-willed modern women and gripping stories that transport you back in time, then you’ll love KJ Water's Books.

Don’t miss the next book in the series, Shattering Time, available now, set during Hurricane Frances tossing Ronnie back to the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island in a fight for her life and for those facing the mysterious disappearance of our first colony in America. You can find it here.

Strangely I'm Still Here!

Strangely I'm Still Here

A Journey With a Brilliant Author, Blogger of the Year,

and All-Around Great Guy

I am very excited to bring to you a dear friend Seumas Gallacher, who has just released his autobiography. He is a fascinating Scotsman with an intriguing background in international banking and finance, then corporate troubleshooter turned best-selling author. Please check out his post to learn more! I'd love for you to follow him over on his blog here.

A Journey to Myself – Writing my Autobiography

 By Seumas Gallacher

For authors, the old maxim is often quoted, ‘Write about what you know.’

I’ve been at this writing game properly for over a decade now, with a back list of five crime thrillers, a book of my poetry, a self-help marketing and promotional guide for authors, and almost 2,000 blog posts. Add to that a catalog of half-a-dozen ghostwriting assignments for other people’s ‘autobiographies’, and it’s of little wonder that the thought occurred to put my own life story and experiences to print. ‘Write about what you know.’

What happened next was a sometime bewildering, sometime painful, sometime joyful, but always exhilarating, writing trip of discovery. I now understand more clearly than ever before just how much I am truly an amalgam of everything, everybody and everywhere with which and with whom I have ever been associated.

Were there regrets? Of course. Probably far too many to register. I doubt if more than a handful of people on this planet have led a flawless, blameless existence. But I do know that every single incident and experience, good, bad and indifferent, was necessary to bring me to this moment in my life. And I would not seek to change one second of it.

It is amazing how memories bring back not only the plain telling of the story, but for me, it also recalled the feelings and emotions that I had in most of them. I felt them again, and again, and again, some with laughter, but also many of them attended with a quiet tear.

I believe, at this age, finally, I am aware of who and what I am as a person. I like the man I see in the mirror each morning, although it was not always thus. I have acquired a tolerance of myself and my own shortcomings, but more importantly, I have learned to ‘live and let live’ in relation to others whom I meet day to day.

What surprises me, is that having published the book just a few weeks ago, I find that I am remembering many other things which could have been included in the memoir. I will resist the temptation to edit online the Amazon Kindle version, which is easy to do, on the same premise that once I finish writing my novels, I leave them finished.

To all my author friends and even those who have not yet caught the writing addiction, you may want to consider a similar project. It is a wondrous journey to yourself.

Here’s the book blurb:

Fact is often more incredible than fiction.
Seumas Gallacher has survived long enough to savor places, characters, and events for more than forty years in the Far East and the Arabian Gulf.

He started life in Scotland traveled far and wide as a wannabe Trainee Master of the Universe, but the Universe had other plans for him.
From a career in banking, he escaped to become a corporate troubleshooter.

He discovered the joy and torture of becoming a wordsmith, writing five best-selling crime novels, a book of poetry, and being hyper-active on social media.
‘Strangely, I’m Still Here’ is his story.

This book is a humorous collection of my fondest watery adventures to help me cope with moving from the oceanfront to Dirtville USA. It features family adventures to some of America's most prestigious national parks (including Yellowstone and Yosemite) while balancing my son's dislike of the outdoors with my intense need for being neck deep in any warm body of water.

At the end of this blog I'll share one of the short stories so you can get a flavor of the rest of the book. Inside the book I've also included the first five chapters of Stealing Time, the first book in the series as well as a free bonus.

You can download the first five chapters of both books, Stealing Time and Shattering Time as well as another free gift for signing up.

Blondie in Bermuda – Ill-Begotten Fears

July 1997

It was July and Bermuda was the only place in the world I wanted to be with the sun on my shoulders and the gorgeous blue sea in front of me. I was excited by what I might find in the tranquil coves and lagoons littering the coast. The handsome and amazingly well-muscled man who just happened to be my new groom joining me on this adventure did not hurt the excitement factor either.

We rented a scooter and made our way along the narrow winding roads while attempting to avoid the overloaded trucks taking their half of the street from the center. The island was breathtaking, filled with pastel cottages in shades of pink, blue, and salmon all with impossibly white roofs. As we meandered along oleander-lined streets, pink-and-white flowers reached out to touch us as we drove by. We continued to make our way to the outskirts of the island to find an isolated beach to explore.

We parked the scooter and headed to the water with snorkel gear in hand. While standing knee-deep in the water he cheerfully informed me, “Several years ago three people were eaten by a shark at this very spot.”

I looked around at the lack of bystanders that would need to pull our shark-bitten bodies out of the water. With false innocence, he looked at me and continued the grisly lesson, pointing at the lagoon’s edge. “Over there a ten-year-old boy lost his leg.”

I looked but didn’t want to see. Seriously? These were not thoughts I wanted swimming beside me in the water. I was satisfied with the blissful ignorance we’d had at the beginning of the journey. What happened to the tranquil coves? Unhappy with my newfound knowledge about bloody and dismembered people, I took another swig of water and tossed the bottle in the sand.

“This is the part where you stick that snorkel in your mouth and bite it,” I said while trying to scrub my brain free of the horrible images he’d just planted. He obliged by sliding into the water smiling, knowing his tease had worked. It only took me a few minutes to brush it aside since I was too enamored with the tiny squid flitting just inches below the waterline, yet always out of reach.

The breathtaking beauty of the coral reefs teaming with life eventually overcame my ill-begotten fears. The colors of the palm trees, flowers, and lush greenery of the land paled in contrast to all the fuchsias, yellows, and blues of the fish darting and diving around the pink coral rocks.
The view of my man in swim trunks and snorkel gear was mighty fine, too. Later we returned to the scooter with my soggy bikini-clad body pressed against his, ready to explore another isolated beach—this one just secluded enough.

At the end of the day we returned to our room, aptly named “A Bit o’ Heaven,” for a steamy shower and fresh duds. With a blanket and a bottle of champagne in hand we took a short walk down the rocky slope to the beach in front of the hotel. We arrived just in time to watch the sun fade into the sea, both ready for part two of our exciting interlude in Bermuda.

I’ve longed to go back and relive those amazing moments on the beach. But I’m afraid that adventure will have to wait awhile. As it would happen a few small problems have arisen since then, namely my beautiful blondie children. Right now, they’re clamoring for dinner and a chuck under their collective chins, so I must dash off. My current bit ‘o heaven includes the laughter, hugs, and everything else that comes with being their mom.

Are You Making these Book Link Mistakes? #BookMarketing

Are You Making these Book Link Mistakes?

Genius Link Co-Founder Jesse Lakes Solving World Peace (or Maybe it was International Link Issues)

Blondie and the Brit Podcast - Writing Publishing and Beyond
Have you ever wondered what happens to your book links after you post them? Did you know that most links don't allow your international audience to find your book?

I've been using this amazing tool called Genius Link for the past six months and was so happy with how it has helped create intelligent links that solve this problem, I reached out to the co-founder, Jesse Lakes, for an interview on Blondie and the Brit, the podcast I co-host with Suzanne Kelman. Click below to listen to the full interview.

Jesse Lakes is part nature lover part self-proclaimed nerd who just can't help solving problems he finds on the Internet.

Jesse's avatar on LinkedIn -- Follow him here.

He first tackled an issue that plagued his early website traffic (and connected affiliate income) that was keeping international visitors from finding their way to his links on iTunes. His solution was so genius that Apple first threatened a lawsuit until they decided to hire him.

Since then Jesse partnered with Microsoft engineer and best friend, Jesse Pasichnyk, to create Genius Link to master this issue while providing an incredible tool for pushing traffic to the proper site no matter where your visitors are coming from.

Don't miss Jesse's generous offer for a free 30-day trial of GeniusLink, see below for details.

Here is the blurb from the Podcast:

This month on Blondie and the Brit we are pleased to introduce you to Jesse Lakes, one of the masterminds behind the company Genius Link (www.geni.us). Genius Link is an incredible online tool that provides intelligent links to help you to improve your sales by routing international readers to their local stores while helping you earn affiliate money and valuable insights in the process. They also own the booklinker.net link management service that is a simpler version of this concept but focused on authors, indie publishers, and Amazon.

This in-depth interview covers many of the elements of this fascinating tool that would be ideal for any authors toolkit.

Jesse is also giving a wonderful gift to our listeners, offering a 30-day free trial (double the standard) to anyone who mentions "Blondie and the Brit." Just click here to begin your trial (https://my.geni.us/join) then use the messaging bubble inside the dashboard to mention the extended free trial.
